Miss Kara
Owner / Director
Kara is the Owner and Educational Leader at Chapter 1. Kara has been working in the early childhood education field for the past 10 years.
Throughout her career she has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge from a variety of roles. On an academic level Kara has studied current best quality practices and completed a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education).
Kara's passion for children has driven her to open a boutique family centre that provides the highest quality care.
Mr Jarrod
Owner / Director
Jarrod is the co-owner of Chapter 1 and has a background with children in the learn to swim environment. He has supported Kara throughout her career while she supported his journey to compete for Australia at the Rio Olympic Games for the Men's Water Polo team.
Post Olympics Jarrod completed a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and graduated with Distinction.
Jarrod represents a rarity in the Children Service's industry by providing a male presence at the centre on a daily basis

My personal professional philosophy involves creating an environment where every child feels safe secure and supported. I aim to make every child feel like they belong to ensure the best for their individual growth and learning. I enjoy working in a team environment to ensure best results are achieved. Working with and supporting parents through the journey of parenthood, providing advice and supporting where possible is something I take pride in.

Over the years I have learnt many things in this industry, I believe that children need to feel safe and supported to grow and learn and I strive to provide the safe space they deserve. I believe that children learn through play and creativity. I use open ended experiences to provide children with endless play opportunities.

I believe that each child is an individual and as their educator I aim to develop each child’s strengths, interests, skills, and knowledge to extend their learning. Children learn through play, providing opportunities for children to explore, discover, create and image plays an important role in their early childhood development.

As an Educator, I believe that a child’s early years are the most fundamental time of their life in terms of learning, growth and skill acquisition for their future. A child’s well being is important and as an educator I ensure that I support children's rights to feel safe secure and supported.

As an educator, I believe children learn when they feel supported. Through trusting relationships role children learn from role modelling in their early years. As an educator I aim to role model behaviours and skills that the children can understand and grasp. I believe by providing them with these opportunities I can create trusting relationships ensuring the children fell comfortable and secure.

As an Educator at Chapter 1, I strongly believe in embracing each child and educator's individuality. Everyone brings something special to the environment we participate in. As educators it is our role to care and nurture children through play and learning experiences. My passion is for the pre-school room. I take pride in planning fun, educational experiences that prepare children for school and positive life-long learning dispositions.

My personal professional philosophy revolves around the health and safety of the children, families and educators within the centre. The children’s learning is important to be a good role model and to have fun with the children, allowing the children to feel safe and secure in their child care environment. I believe in equality and showing kindness and respect to everyone around me.

I have learnt a lot through my time at Chapter 1, I believe children grow and learn through our encouragement and planning. I relate to our Chapter 1 philosophy through striving for high quality care and using my creativity to bring on new ideas and learning.
